Checkride day
Use the checklist for your test. This page is the short version.
Ready to request
IACRA started. Recommending instructor ready to sign. Aircraft identified. You have read the checklist for that test.
Written accept
Send the schedule form or call. A request is not a hold until you receive a written accept from the examiner.
48-hour cancel
Cancellations or reschedules within 48 hours of the planned evaluation cannot be accommodated. Late cancellation and re-examination amounts are on the checklist for that test.
Documents
Government photo ID. Pilot certificate if held. Medical or other qualifying document allowed for that privilege. Knowledge test report if required. IACRA complete with FTN and instructor signature. Logbooks tabbed. 8060-5 or discontinuance letter if this is a retest or continuation. Part 141 graduation certificate if using 141 reduced minimums. Do not send a Social Security number.
Aircraft
Airworthiness certificate, registration, POH or AFM, current weight and balance, required inspections, current nav database if instrument procedures will be flown, aircraft legally available to the applicant.
Briefing room
A quiet table, power, and room to lay out charts and the aircraft documents. Plan extra time if the school desk is shared.
Payment
Examiner fee is due before the test starts. Amounts are shown after you select that test on Schedule or Checklists. Aircraft, fuel, and instructor time are separate.
Who may be present
The recommending instructor may observe if the examiner agrees and it does not interfere. An FAA inspector may observe any practical test.
FAQ
Is a calendar click a hold?
No. Google Calendar and the request form are still requests until written accept.
What if weather is unusable?
The applicant decides personal minimums and legal limits. The examiner does not certify the weather.
Initial CFI?
Not offered. Add-on, renewal, or reinstatement only.
