A Designated Pilot Examiner is a private individual appointed under 14 CFR part 183. A designee is not an employee of the FAA or the U.S. Government. Designation is a privilege, not a right, and may be limited or withdrawn by the FAA. The examiner represents the Administrator only when performing authorized functions listed on the current Certificate Letter of Authority.

Nothing on this site is official FAA policy. The regulations, ACS or PTS, Order 8900.1, Order 8000.95, and the CLOA control. If this site conflicts with those documents, those documents govern.

Fees charged for examiner services are private fees. They are not FAA fees and are not paid to the FAA. Retest, including continuation after a Letter of Discontinuance, is half the checkride fee, the same as late cancellation. Administrative actions (GIE, FIRE, BAE): depending on the administrative action to be performed, the fee ranges from $200 to $500. The exact amount is set before a date is scheduled. All fees are confirmed in writing before the application is accepted.

The scheduling form does not store applicant data on this website unless a separate form endpoint is configured. It prepares a request you can email. Do not send Social Security numbers. IACRA already collects the data the FAA requires.

Service-area descriptions are informational. Service covers the State of Hawaii. Testing in Guam and the U.S. mainland is by arrangement, subject to FAA preapproval, authorization, aircraft, weather and other duties. No testing is conducted outside the United States and its territories.
